Bodegas Vallemayor
Vallemayor is a family-owned winery located in Fuenmayor, within the geographical area of La Rioja Alta. Our family has been dedicated to winemaking since the 19th century, but it was in 1984 when Luis Pérez Foncea, father of the current owners, decided to open the new facilities and began bottling his own brands.
In the heart of La Rioja
One of the first towns in La Rioja to regenerate vine cultivation after the phylloxera plague imported from France was Fuenmayor.
In this town, located at the eastern end of the La Rioja Alta strip, the winemakers who preceded us invested their efforts, wisdom and experience in cultivating plantations of Tempranillos, Mazuelos, Viuras and Garnachas from American grafts which, over time, became the most substantial wealth of the area.
Among those farmers and vintners willing to bravely undertake the changes that were taking place in the sector at the dawn of the 20th century was Don Luis Foncea, grandfather of the founder of Bodegas Vallemayor, Don Luis Pérez Foncea.
